During the Early Childhood Education course, you will gain skills specific to develop and supervise young children. You’ll learn about child development, education, relationships, behaviour and diversity. If you want to gain skills in educating young children, but also learn about observation and assessment, health, safety and nutrition, then this course is the right choice for you.

Planning & prerequisites
Early Childhood Education is a 100-level course and will be offered during the spring semester of each academic year.
What you will learn
During the Early Childhood Education course at Viaa, you get an overview of theory and concepts regarding child development, relationships, behaviour and diversity. Consequently, you will learn to apply these theories and concepts. For example, playing is crucial in the development of young children, which means you as their teacher will have to learn to blend the educational goals into their play. During the course, you will have lectures, group work with research projects, readings, field visits and in-class presentations.
