Today, health care and healthcare professionals are facing hectic times. COVID-19 impacts patients and patient care. You might face drastic and stressful life threatening situations. COVID-19 measures are impacting connectedness and communication with patients and hinder real person centered care.

As a nursing or midwifery student you are being educated in these extraordinary circumstances. What are your experiences and what questions do you have? During this time you maybe ask yourself ‘how can I be a compassionate nurse or midwife’ or ‘how can I really give good care despite contextual limitations’.  In this period of time you might be faced especially with thoughts and questions about the core of your professional role in health care: being present and doing good for the patient.

In essence this concerns connectedness, meaning and purpose, which are the main concepts of spiritual care. In this online event you will learn how to be present in hectic times by delivering spiritual care. You will learn what spiritual care is and how to practice it.

Aim and Program

In this online event we aim to create a 3-day learning community about spiritual care with participants from around the world. During the event you will learn more about the practice of the EPICC Spiritual Care Competences: Intra-Personal Spirituality, Inter-Personal Spirituality, Spiritual Care: Assessment and Planning, Spiritual Care: Intervention and Evaluation.
Click here for more information about these competences.

Every day there will be an online interactive learning session of 2,5 hours, with expert speakers, interactive learning activities, student presentations and breakout sessions.

The sessions will take place from: 15.00 – 17.30 hrs (CET). The hosts of this event are Anthony Schwartz and Aliza Damsma
