General Information for SPICE students

During your stay in Zwolle, you will be hosted with a Dutch, Christian family. They will welcome you as a part of their family. Your host family will help you learning Dutch, and you can help them learning some English in exchange.

Living with a host family provides you with a deep intercultural experience. Your family is open to discussing your experiences and to teaching you more about the Netherlands and the Dutch.

Viaa students volunteer as buddies for international students. They help you find your way at Viaa and throughout life as a student in Zwolle. For them, it’s an opportunity to practise their English and to become acquainted with a different culture. For you, it’s part of your learning experience and it may be an opportunity to make friends for life!

During SPICE, you go on a one-week study visit to Rome. You will stay in a hotel, and will spend a full week of excursions to all kinds of historical sites in what is called ‘The Mother of all Cities’. An enthusiastic and very knowledgeable teacher from Viaa will be your guide during this week
