Viaa is a University of Applied Sciences, with a distinctive character. We attach great value to qualitatively good education, advice, and research. Viaa is a Christian University of Applied Sciences. This means we, as staff and students, want to live as Christians in our daily contact and our supervision. Jesus’ love is the example for all of us. We want to live following Him. Therefore our motto is: ‘When you believe in your work!’
Organisation & management
Within Viaa, the organisation and the board are partly based on the principles and provisions of the Sector Code of Good Governance of the Association of Universities of Applied Sciences, the WHW and the generally accepted organisational principles.
One of the consequences of this is that there is a clear division between responsibilities, tasks and powers of (internal) supervision, administration and management. These responsibilities, tasks and powers are laid down in the Viaa Articles of Association as well as in the Board and Management Regulations.
Viaa is managed by the Executive Board. The Executive Board consists of Mr D. Wakker MME (chairman). The Executive Board is responsible for the preparation and implementation of Viaa’s policy. In addition, the Executive Board is responsible for the day-to-day management of Viaa and its staff. The duties and powers of the Executive Board and the way in which it is accountable to the Supervisory Board are laid down in the Board and Management Regulations.
The Supervisory Board supervises the performance of activities and the use of powers by the Executive Board and assists the Executive Board with advice. An Assessment Framework is used for the fulfilment of this task.
The division of tasks and working method of the Supervisory Board can be found in the Supervisory Board Regulations.
